Tuscany Silk Batting is our choice, hands down, for quilting with a Singer Featherweight.   Because this batting is exceptionally light, it places no strain whatsoever on the Featherweight as it glides along the work surface.  The needle slides through the batting as if it were passing through butter.

Tuscany Silk Batting really is 90% silk and 10% polyester.   It breathes naturally and quilts up to 3 1/2 inches apart.   It is washable and will shrink approximately 5%.

If you are planning on making an heirloom quilt, the batting is not the place to cut corners.
